BOOM Library has launched UBERBASS, a bass enhancer plugin for music production, sound design and sound for picture. The plugin is designed to generate harmonically enhanced low end with controls for frequency focus, saturation, dynamics and filtering.
UBERBASS processes low-frequency content by adding harmonics around a selected target frequency. Its central BOOST control adjusts the level of the generated low-end effect in relation to the original signal, ranging from subtle reinforcement to more pronounced processing.
The FREQUENCY control selects the area targeted by the effect in the sub and low-frequency range. A pitch-mode option allows users to set this value by musical note, from E0 to B2, rather than in Hertz. INTENSITY adjusts the amount of processing, while Q-FACTOR sets the width of the frequency focus. Higher Q settings provide a narrower range around the selected frequency, while lower settings affect a broader range.
DRIVE applies harmonic saturation to the generated low end. BOOM Library states that this processing can help low-frequency material remain audible on smaller playback systems. A separate stage can double the available drive amount.
The plugin also includes gating controls intended to prevent the generated effect from remaining active during quieter passages. GATE THR sets the threshold, while ATTACK, RELEASE and RATIO adjust the timing and response of the gate. A LOW CUT control filters low-frequency material before the dry/wet blend, allowing users to remove rumble and other very low-frequency content from the output.
BOOM Library identifies applications including mix-bus processing, percussion, kicks, basslines, impacts, explosions and other sound effects. The developer also lists mechanical sounds such as latches, servos, reloads and machinery, along with film, television and game-score material. UBERBASS can additionally be used to add weight to vocal, voice-over and animal recordings.
UBERBASS is available from the BOOM Library website for $115, with an introductory price of $92.
