ViatorDSP, a software developer, has launched Duplex Comp Lite, a complimentary serial compressor plugin compatible with both Windows and Macintosh systems. This free version of Duplex Comp, however, does not include factory presets, oversampling, or a user manual integrated into the plugin interface.
Duplex Comp Lite is a unique plugin that merges two serially cascading compressors, followed by a limiter, into a single efficient package. This innovative design simplifies a common mixing method, which involves using multiple compressors in series, each with different settings. The plugin consolidates this entire process into one easy-to-use interface.
In the graphical user interface (GUI), the compressors are ingeniously referred to as “Units,” while the limiter is amusingly named “Rent Control.” This naming convention is a whimsical reference to the plugin’s name, Duplex. The signal flow for Duplex Comp is as follows: Unit 1 (Compressor 1) -> Unit 2 (Compressor 2) -> Rent Control (Limiter).
While the Lite version of Duplex Comp is free, ViatorDSP also offers a paid version of the plugin. Priced at $19.99, the paid version of Duplex Comp provides additional features not available in the free version. Unlike the free version, the paid version does not have an expiry date, offering users unlimited access to its features.
