Zynaptiq has launched WIDE, a stereo image widening and mono-to-stereo upmixing plugin for macOS and Windows. The plugin is designed for music production, mastering, sound design, and film post-production workflows that require stereo image processing or the creation of stereo material from mono sources.
WIDE uses Zynaptiq’s patented sample-accurate spectral processing technology alongside resynthesis and feature extraction methods. It includes four processing algorithms: three stereo-to-stereo widening algorithms and one mono-to-stereo upmixing algorithm.
According to Zynaptiq, the stereo widening algorithms do not use mid-side widening, modulation or pitch-based processing, or separate equalisation for the left and right channels. The company states that this approach is intended to avoid common artifacts associated with conventional stereo widening processes, including in mastering applications.
The mono-to-stereo algorithm is intended to create a stereo presentation from mono signals. Zynaptiq identifies uses including adding dimensionality to music mixes and creating immersive environments from location recordings, designed effects, and other assets used in film post-production.
- Four algorithms, including three stereo-to-stereo modes and one mono-to-stereo mode
- Broadband and frequency-dependent fold-down to mono
- BIAS and Hover-Menu-based frequency-dependent operation
- 64-bit internal processing
- A vector-based user interface with zoom support up to 200%
WIDE is available in versions for Windows and macOS. Zynaptiq has also made a free trial available and has published the current software patch through its WIDE downloads page.
WIDE has an introductory price of USD 99 or EUR 99 until October 10, 2026, reduced from USD 149 or EUR 149. Euro pricing includes 19% VAT; sales tax may apply to the USD price.
